Swim Through Darkness - Dec 6th Swim

Swim Start Time 22:14

December 6th 2020

Causeway Coast

Charity Aware NI

Swim Distance 1.27KM

I didn't swim Friday or Saturday nights. I found during training that those nights often have a lot of people about and I didn't want to attract attention to myself so I decided not to swim them during the challenge. I may change that as time goes on depending on the weather etc but for now I'm not swimming them. However, back at it tonight, Got another good distance done. Such a beautiful night. Lots of frost and small clean waves. A fog lay on the surface of the water. amazing night out there! Heavy current at times particularly from the pier to the church and then again at guysmere. I have to say the contrast between the chaoticness of the coast these days during daylight hours with all sorts of people here doing all sorts of things, to this at night is incredible.

Info - I am swimming a total of 100km through the darkness, in the darkest and coldest months of the year off the North Coast of Ireland. My aim...to inspire those who may be struggling in dark times to keep going. I also aim to raise awareness and funds for the depression Charity Aware NI. We all face dark times in life at some point and it can be extremely overwhelming.

Safety - Please don't think that because I am doing this that you too should do this or something similar. I am very experienced in the sea with knowledge that is only gained through many years of exposure to the sea in all her moods. I have a safety and location system in place including continual contact with people on land every time I swim.
