**Who is responsible for your information**

This website, www.almennie.me, is operated by Alastair Mennie, trading as Al Mennie, based in Northern Ireland. I am responsible for deciding how your personal information is used.

When you place an order, contact me or subscribe to updates, I may collect your name, email address, billing and delivery addresses, telephone number, order details, payment confirmation, correspondence and marketing preferences.

**How and why your information is used**

I use personal information to:

- Process orders, arrange delivery and provide customer support.
- Respond to enquiries about my books, work and services.
- Maintain accounting records and meet tax and other legal obligations.

- Send occasional marketing emails where I have the necessary permission.

The legal bases for these activities are performing a contract or taking steps at your request before entering one; complying with legal obligations; and legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, running and protecting the business, and resolving disputes. Where I rely on legitimate interests, I consider your rights and reasonable expectations.

Information needed to process and deliver an order must be provided for the purchase to be completed. Marketing subscriptions are optional.

**Payments and service providers**

This website is hosted on Wix, which provides the website and online shop infrastructure and stores information submitted through it.

Payments are processed through PayPal or Stripe, depending on your chosen payment method. I receive information needed to confirm and manage your payment, but do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Information necessary to fulfil orders may be shared with postal and delivery services. Relevant information may also be shared with professional advisers, such as an accountant, and with authorities where legally required.

Email correspondence is handled through my email provider.

I do not sell your personal information.

**International processing**

Some service providers process or store information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, transfers must be protected through UK-recognised adequacy arrangements or appropriate contractual safeguards.

**Marketing emails**

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe option provided or by emailing me.

Unsubscribing does not prevent necessary messages about an order, delivery or customer-service enquiry. A minimal record of your preference may be retained to ensure you are not added back to marketing communications.

**How long information is kept**

Order and financial records are retained for the period required for accounting and tax purposes. For my self-employed business records, this is normally at least five years after the 31 January tax-return submission deadline for the relevant tax year.

Records may need to be retained longer where necessary for an ongoing tax enquiry, dispute or legal obligation.

Other personal information is kept only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected. Records are reviewed annually, and information no longer needed is securely deleted or anonymised.

Marketing contact details are reviewed periodically and removed from active marketing use when you unsubscribe or when there is no longer a valid basis to retain them.

Wix and services used by the website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, maintain security and support shopping and payments.

I have not connected Google Analytics or Meta Pixel to this website.

Where optional cookies require consent, you should be offered a choice before they are used. Browser settings can also be used to manage cookies, although blocking essential cookies may affect the shop’s functionality.

You can object to direct marketing at any time. Where processing relies on consent, withdrawing it does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Some information cannot be deleted immediately where it must be retained to meet legal obligations.
