Blyton and I walk here regularly and create little piles of plastic to gather on the way back to the van. Although I don’t think this is exactly tackling the source of the problem it no doubt helps marine life survive without the pollution from humans in their way….A couple of years ago I took part in a nationwide survey logging samples of water quality in two estuaries near my home on the north coast of Ireland. The idea was to determine the levels of micro plastics in the water. One of the estuaries I collected water is here where Blyton and I are collecting some rubbish/trash from the waters edge. The coast here is generally plastic free for the most part but tucked into this corner of the coast, heavy rainfall tends to sweep plastic bottles and all sorts up onto the shore.
